Hi there! Welcome to the  journal about our lives, travels, fashion, and style. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Amy.

It is the time of year that many celebrations move outdoors. With the warm weather and longer daylight hours, this is an option that fits a variety of events. Today, I am so excited to share a going away party that I captured with you. This casual, backyard event featured boho details and some fun themed decor. This party was hosted by a family to say goodbye to their au pair. So, a bounce castle for the kids, travel-themed details, and delicious charcuterie were all in order. The design for this day could easily translate to other celebrations like an intimate elopement or baby shower. Gather inspiration from this boho outdoor going away party for your next event!

The Food

For this event, the group snacked on a lavish charcuterie spread and then enjoyed some cake from a local bakery for dessert. Since this was a going-away party, the cake included a ‘best wishes’ cake topper. The hosts served plenty of drinks to the group – you can’t go wrong with champagne! If you are planning an event like this for a small group, there is absolutely no pressure to serve a full meal. Charcuterie, drinks, and dessert will still impress your guests. The secret is to take time for the presentation. Look how beautiful the snacks and cake table are.

Table Decor

While we are talking about presentation, a strong tablescape always created an elevated experience. This event featured a low table with assorted pillows. Then,  dried florals in gold vases and candles created the boho centerpieces. The layered place settings in pastel colors and organic texture were my favorite party. I love the knotted napkins. Lastly, guests could enjoy their beverages in elegant glassware. To add some more texture and comfort, the table sat on top of a vintage-style rug.

Depending on your budget, you will likely need to rent some items for decor elements like the tablescape for your event. This is why I would recommend hiring an event planner. This professional can help you source your event vendors and they can assist with set up and clean up.

Group with champagne at outdoor going away partyEntertainment

Onto the entertainment! This group included the honored au pair of the day, the family, and some friends of the au pair, Elena. To capture some photos together for this going away party, a flower wall with a neon sign was essential. The group could capture polaroid photos together, then I snapped professional photos. This also created a stunning backdrop for the design.

A bounce castle stole the show this day! The kids and adults had so much fun. A balloon display decorated the white bounce castle which also created the perfect photo opportunity. What a thoughtful way to say goodbye to and celebrate Elena!

I hope this party inspired you for your next outdoor event.  Before reading this blog, did you know I capture more events like this aside from weddings and engagement sessions? I adore capturing a variety of real moments. Check out my headshot photography inspiration next.
