It is always a pleasant surprise when someone that I grew up with goes out of their way to hire me to be their wedding photographer. I have known Becky since middle school, and when she contacted me about being her photographer I was over the moon!
A tale of two cities
Rebecca grew up in my home state of Maryland, but Chris was living in South Carolina when they met at a work event. They kept their relationship a casual friendship for as long as they could before it became clear that they both had real feelings for each other. They spent a fantastic weekend together at the beach, and Chris eventually also proposed there. So it was only natural that we would shoot the engagement session there as well.
It worked out that I now live in South Carolina and have a family beach house in the area, so we braved a windy March day and visited the beach and Brookhaven Gardens. I spend so much time at the beach during the warmer months but it was my first visit to Brookhaven, and I was very impressed. The grounds were beautiful, and we were able to see some magnificent old live oaks, which never disappoints.
Looking forward to a summer wedding
We may have frozen a bit on a windy beach in March, but Rebecca and Chris planned a gorgeous spring wedding on another body of water back in Maryland. It was so nice to have two very different feels with the same couple, to have photos that both showed where they fell in love and where they said their vows.
