I love exploring new places and photographing different locations, it makes it more fun when you find an unexpected pocket of light or a hidden gem of an abandoned barn in an otherwise crowded business park. When I was talking to Stephanie about where she and Jason were going to do their engagement session, she brought up this barn that she saw just behind an auto parts store in the middle of Mooresville. It was pretty hard for me to believe, that there would be such a beautiful place literally right behind a business parking lot. The other location we decided to visit was Main Street in the heart of old Mooresville, where they will also be married next August.
Stephanie warned me that she would need extensive posing help…like most brides say prior to their engagement session. I assured her that I would do what it takes, but I know that when two people are happy and in love there is very little for me to do besides move a hand or an arm every now and then. It was clear how much these two loved each other and how much fun they have together. Lots of giggles and silly faces were had. Even a run in with some poison ivy (on my end).
Being a wedding photographer can sometimes be stressful, and I love the wedding day hustle and all of the little moments that unfold. But the engagement session has to be one of my favorite things that I get to do. I love getting to spend a few hours with just the couple and get to know them better, I really think it helps me to plan for their wedding, to know what to expect, and for them to become comfortable with me and my giant camera 😉
