Your wedding is a wonderful time to spend with those you love. As Mother’s Day approaches, I can’t help but think of all of the heartful moments I capture on wedding days. The Mother of the Bride moments make the best gifts if you already have your wedding gallery. Put together your favorite photos from the day in an album or frame a select moment to gift to your mother. If your wedding date is still upcoming, you might be looking for some photography ideas to send to your photographer as inspiration. Today I am sharing 8 Mother of the Bride photography ideas for you to choose from!

Getting Ready Photo

Getting ready for the wedding with your bridal party is so special. Chat with your photographer about snapping individual photos of your mother during this moment. I love the casual and candid photos! This mother posed with the bride’s pup in the bridal suite in her matching pajama set. You will love having these memories available! Photos of the mother of the bride getting hair and makeup done or putting on the corsage are great ideas as well.

Putting Wedding Dress On

When it is time to put your wedding dress on, include your mom in some of the photos! Even if someone else is actually helping you put the dress on, this photo idea can easily be posed. This is a classic photo that you will want in your gallery. I adore how the black and white photo of this moment turned out.

Siblings & Mother of Bride

If your siblings are a part of your wedding day or wedding party, don’t forget about the photos with them! There are many options for this. Ask your sibling(s) to step into a few of the getting-ready photos, include them in family portraits, and capture moments during the ceremony and reception. These are wonderful for group gifts later! Plus, your siblings will appreciate being included in this way.

Bride & Mother of the Bride

Now it is time for the portraits! Once you put the final touches on both of your wedding outfits, pose with your mom for photos. Adventure outdoors or find a unique spot inside of your venue. These bride and mother of the bride portraits are wonderful for those looking to frame a moment as a gift. Your photographer will help you both feel relaxed and suggest pose ideas that capture your relationship.

Mother of the Bride & Mother of the Groom

Capture a photo of all of the mothers together! This is a great way to make everyone feel included and capture more memories from the day. Schedule this photo during the family photography time. This can be after the ceremony or before!

Mother of the Bride & Groom

Make sure you get a photo of the mother of the bride with the groom also. Invite the mother of the groom into this photo as well if you prefer.

Candid Photos

Lastly, ask your photographer for some candid photos of your mother during the reception. Photos of your mother with other family members, friends, dancing, and laughing are incredibly sweet.

We’ve talked a little bit about what to do with the mother of the bride wedding photos – but what about the rest? Read my full breakdown of what to do with your wedding photos once your receive your gallery next.
