Today we are traveling to Charleston, South Carolina for an absolutely breathtaking wedding. While I live in North Carolina, Charleston is one of my favorite places to photograph my clients at. Whether it is engagement sessions in the city or weddings at local venues, I love it all! This wedding took place at Middleton Place, a historic venue with a breathtaking landscape. I absolutely loved capturing this wedding last spring and celebrating the couple of honor.
From the details, getting ready, ceremony, couples photos, and more, I captured this day from start to finish. I can’t wait to share Payton and Aaron’s joyful Charleston wedding at Middleton Place with you today! Keep reading to check it out.
Invitations
It is no secret that I adore photographing and designing flat lay photos. I organized the stationery for the wedding invitations for this photo. Then, I added the ring and ring box. These invitations were extra special because they included an artistic depiction of the local natural landscape.
Getting Ready
The bride and groom had so much fun with their wedding party getting ready at nearby hotels. Since the couple would be sharing a first look later in the day, they exchanged letters and read them on their wedding morning. This is such a romantic idea!
Since Mother’s Day is coming up soon as I write this blog, I want to mention how sweet the Mother of the Bride moments are. These moments during the “getting ready” portion of the day made wonderful memories. The photos certainly would make great gifts any time – not just Mother’s Day! First Look
Now it is time for the first look. Payton and Aaron met outdoors underneath a romantic tree on the venue’s grounds. This space feels like it was pulled directly from a movie! Look how joyful the couple was to share this moment before the timeline of the day truly began. I also snapped some individual portraits of the bride and groom during this time. That way, they had even more time to party and relax later in the day!
Wedding Party
After the first look, the couple joined their wedding party for photos. We got creative with the oak tree backdrop along with a fun bus that was parked onsite. This group looked so stunning!
Ceremony
The couple said their “I dos” with their friends and family at the Octoganal Garden, an onsite ceremony location. The couple loved the oak trees and Spanish moss to frame their special moment. The view of the water in the background made this ceremony even more of a dream.
Reception & Couples Photos
While guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour, I snapped more photos of the newlyweds and also captured photos of them with their families. Then, it was time for the reception! The group made their way indoors for a beautiful dinner and party.
I hope you gathered inspiration from this Charleston wedding for your big day. If you are planning a wedding in the area and are searching for your photographer, contact me today! I would love to hear your story.
