Hi there! Welcome to the  journal about our lives, travels, fashion, and style. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Amy.

One of my favorite parts of living in North Carolina is the ability to easily adventure to the beach. Today we are taking a trip to the Outer Banks for some beach wedding dress inspiration. If you are planning to say your “I dos” by the ocean with your feet in the sand, I’ve got you covered (just in time for the summer months).

For this shoot, we picked up the dresses at Bluebird Bridal. For my North Carolina couples, this might be your dress or suit shop! Ready to find your dream beach wedding dress? Let’s go over my top 3 looks!

Vintage Romantic

Do you ever feel like you should have been born in a different era? If you love vintage styles but want something that still fits the flowy, effortless look for a beach wedding, take a look at this gown! A vintage look is so romantic and continues to gain popularity with many engaged couples. This long-sleeve option is still breathable and offers more texture to your wedding day style. My favorite part is the lace mock neck. How dreamy!

Tip from a wedding photographer: change details of your look as you capture newlywed photography and portraits. So, if you start the day with your hair up, take it down for some photos! Sometimes, these turn out to be your favorite moments and it adds variety to your wedding gallery. Embrace the beach hair look! Chat with your hair and makeup artist about this beforehand so you still feel polished for the rest of the day. I recommend an artist like Cali Scott Artistry for North Carolina weddings.

Modern & Minimal

This is a style you have probably seen repeatedly on Pinterest! Less is often more. Especially for a beach wedding, you won’t want a heavy down or a super long train all day. A slip dress is incredibly stunning. This is a look perfect for smaller celebrations or elopements. All you need is a fresh bouquet and natural glam to finish the look!

Flowy & Ethereal

For those that want to feel ethereal on their wedding day, this dress is for you! The flowing tulle skirt and wrapped ties for the back of this dress are breathtaking. You can get creative with your poses and make the most of your gown. This dress is a classic beach wedding look and as a photographer, I love it! It can fit most styles with the right accessories. You might add some dainty metallic jewelry or a fresh floral headpiece for a boho twist.

Don’t forget the veil!

Yes, a veil still works for a beach wedding. Be sure to factor in the wind when choosing your veil. I recommend a shorter option in a simple style. Find something that you can picture movement with! Avoid options with a lot of weight or layers. Ultimately, you want to feel comfortable on your wedding day and won’t want to worry about any aspects of your look. Don’t shy away from a veil accessory for your beach wedding if it is something you have always envisioned! You can keep it on for the ceremony and some photos then take it off to dance for your reception.
