Sometimes it’s just fun to be a photographer. When Inara and I were planning her boudoir session I decided to throw out the “crazy idea” that we try outdoor boudoir…and she was immediately on board! That takes a lot of courage, and I was so excited that we were going to get to do something different and daring.
We started inside and as usual, Inara had the perfect wardrobe for the occasion. Her light purple highlights and the #nofilter underwear made for quite the cheeky statement! We moved outside to a few of my favorite local spots and spent the better part of the afternoon chasing light and dodging those annoying prickly pieces of grass. We also experimented (and failed) with smoke bombs, which turns out are quite difficult to control and I also learned that I am never at risk for turning into a pyromaniac. Finally, the evening was finished with some dramatic silhouette images.
For me, boudoir photography is about empowering a woman to step outside her comfort zone and show off not only her beauty but also her confidence. Yes, Inara is gorgeous. But her attitude and daring spirit amplify that beauty in a way that I hope these photos show. She is always amazing to work with (I photographed her senior photos and have worked with her ever since!) It isn’t about nudity or sexiness. It’s about being the person you want to be if only just for yourself. You don’t have to show the photos to anyone, they don’t have to be a gift for your partner. They are the best gift to yourself.
