As Seen In Carolina Bride Magazine
Two things defined Que and John’s beautiful April wedding: fun and family. Held at the University Hilton in Charlotte, this fun-loving couple worked hard to bring together their diverse cultures and family traditions for a stunning ceremony and celebration guests will never forget.
John’s mother and aunt wore traditional Korean wedding attire and, while the couple donned a tuxedo and stunning lace-detailed gown, they surprised guests with quick changes during the reception — into customary garb from both their Korean and Vietnamese backgrounds. These were truly special moments, and wonderful ways to honor their respective families — and their new family unit.
The bride and groom got ready together, and chose to see each other before the ceremony. During their first look they exchanged cards for one another, creating a truly special moment in the minutes leading up to the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was outdoors in the beautiful North Carolina sun. During the ceremony, the couple honored their parents with roses. They also invited them to be part of the sand ceremony, symbolizing the coming together of the couple and their families.
But what was most magical about the day? Que’s immediate family speaks Vietnamese, while John’s speaks Korean. That meant many of their closest relatives — including their parents — were unable to communicate with one another in the traditional sense. What they couldn’t express in words, though, these incredible families made up for in pure joy and unbridled emotion, which surges through every single image from the day. There were lots of tears, lots of dancing, lots of ear-to-ear grins and endless laughter — all hallmarks of a wonderful wedding celebration.
