Elegant Chesapeake Bay Wedding at The Hyatt | Destination Wedding Photographer

After I photographed Nikki & Luke’s Annapolis engagement session, I put a little star next to their Eastern Shore wedding on my calendar.  I just KNEW it would be a finely detailed, impeccable wedding.  The expectations that I had as their wedding photographer, however, were far more modest than what I had the honor to photograph. I can only describe their beautiful waterfront Chesapeake Bay wedding as a true fairy tale…nothing short of perfect.
You know those days that we dream of as little girls?  The days where everything goes as planned, the sky is blue and the sunset is a beautiful blue and pink over the water?  Did you have those dreams too or is that just a dream that someone who grew up by the Chesapeake Bay has?  Either way, my home state of Maryland is beautiful in many ways, not the least of which is our treasured Bay.  Being on the Eastern Shore is something I remember from my childhood, and having the pleasure of documenting this wedding at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay was a pure joy.  On this Sunday in September the weather was a perfect mix of sunshine and breeze, something that photographers hope for, and the sun set in a beautiful collage of pinks, blues and oranges over the calm waters.

Each and every detail was thought out and carefully orchestrated.  The bridesmaid’s shoes were inscribed with personal notes, the six pence on the bottom of the bride’s shoe, the blue heart and initials in memoriam to Nikki’s late mother.  The couple also chose to honor Nikki’s mom with a bittersweet balloon release during their ceremony that left not a dry eye among us.

As was the case in their engagement photos, Nikki and Luke are so comfortable with each other…and so genuinely happy to be together.  They interact with such loving care it is refreshing and honest.  I wish I could take all of the credit for their beautiful portraits, but honestly, they made my job easy.
