Can you believe we are getting closer to the fall season? Hello crisp air, sweaters, changing leaves, and apple cider! Most of all, I am excited to start capturing seasonal engagement sessions in my local city of Charlotte and the mountains of North Carolina.
If your engagement photos are coming up, I’m here with some tips including romantic pose ideas and unique outfits to make your couple’s photography a breeze. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite engagement sessions for inspiration!
Get Cozy
Of course, as the weather gets cooler, you can choose some cozier outfits. Select earth-tone sweaters and add in plenty of layers. Add some cool accessories like statement earrings or glasses. These outfits will keep you looking chic and staying comfortable!
For poses, cozy up as well! These photos can be so romantic. If you aren’t sure which poses you prefer, browse through Pinterest to gather an idea of what you may like. During your engagement session, don’t be afraid to think out of the box- sometimes these end up being the best photos!
Include Nature
When picturing the fall season, what comes to mind first? Probably the vibrant leaves! Adventure to a local park or even find a stunning tree to take photos in front of. For a full day in nature, maybe you select a mountain engagement session! One of my favorite spots in North Carolina for fall photos is the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether you pose sitting on top of a mountain or at a local park, the natural fall aesthetic will shine through.
Bring Outfit Options
This is something you have probably heard me say before if you are a client or long-term reader of the blog. Bringing outfit options for your engagement session is so helpful! For the fall season, sometimes the weather can be warmer or cooler than expected. Also, you might decide you want to dress up or down depending on the location throughout the day! This is something I recommend speaking to your photographer about beforehand so you feel extra prepared.
You also will be able to choose from different options for your wedding materials from the website to your invitations! If your stationery includes a bold pattern for example, maybe you go with the outfits in solid colors. Make the most of your engagement session and set yourself up for success. Plus, it can be so fun to walk through the city all dressed up!
Don’t forget the details!
Chat with your photographer about capturing the details! From your gorgeous rings to close-ups of the leaves, detail photos add an interesting dimension to your engagement session. I love offering black and white photo options as well. If you are making a full date out of your engagement photos, bring along cute details like matching mugs or an intricate charcuterie board to capture the memories.
