Hi there! Welcome to the  journal about our lives, travels, fashion, and style. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Amy.

If you are planning a wedding during the cooler months, you might be wondering how to decorate for it. As a wedding photographer, I have gathered some inspiration for you from my past clients! You can create a wedding design that feels true to the season without including holiday themes. Today we are going over exactly how to decorate for your winter wedding! Keep reading for the top decor ideas and advice.

Choosing The Color Palette

To begin selecting your decor, you need to choose your color palette first. Don’t feel limited to the traditional colors of the winter season! Bright neutrals, bold greens, and romantic pastels are all beautiful options. For a winter wedding, I love seeing more metallics incorporated into the design. Deeper, moody tones like black or burgundy are also stunning options to include. Ultimately, choose colors that you love without feeling pressure from the season. Stick to three to five colors and work with a wedding planner to bring your vision to life.

Designing Your Stationery

When you are designing your stationery, make sure that it remains cohesive with your design. You can add a seasonal floral print or fabric to the stationery for the winter months. Maybe you include a photo from your winter engagement session on the invitations! Order some samples of your stationery and test them out with different aspects of your wedding decor before submitting your final order.

Add Fresh Florals

An easy way to bring your winter wedding to life is by decorating with an abundance of fresh florals. You might decide against classic winter florals and foliage like spruce sprigs or poinsettias for your big day. Instead, florals like fresh roses, anemones, hydrangeas, and whimsical greenery will create the aesthetic you desire. These florals can transition into the winter months but will not make your design look like the holidays.

Creative Lighting

This is arguably the most important advice on this blog. Get creative with the lighting. Add in multiple sources of light for your winter wedding. The sun will be setting early but your wedding will continue through the night! You might be indoors more during the winter as well. Romantic candles, chandeliers, and LED lighting (for the dancefloor) are all ideas to consider. Speak with your DJ about the lighting options they offer. They could be able to provide lighting for more than just the dancefloor such as the toasts or backlighting for an indoor ceremony.

Every Detail Counts

With any wedding, every detail counts. Take your time selecting the details for your winter wedding. Browse through Pinterest for your ideas. Even the cake can become a piece of your decor! The details often have a role that is greater than just decorating the event. Items like signs fill out a space nicely but also will inform your guests with what they need to know at that point in the wedding.
