I was so excited to be asked to do the photography for Maria and Angelo’s Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral wedding this fall. When I first met Maria we spent hours discussing what she was looking for in a wedding photographer and I just knew we were a great fit! I am even MORE excited that this real wedding appears in the newest issue of Carolina Bride Magazine!
Like I said, when I first met Maria last year we talked through the “typical” wedding photographer interview questions pretty quickly and even though I am used to being asked the same questions it is very important to me that we take this time to really get to know each other. I love to hear about the plans for flowers for the little details and even the dress! To me it is extremely important to feel a connection with my clients, I wouldn’t leave my family every weekend for anything less!
Their Engagement Session
One of my favorite times that I get to share with my couples, the engagement session, had to be rescheduled due to a freak March snow storm which is unheard of in the south! It worked out in our favor, however, because we were able to take advantage of some freshly bloomed flowers and gorgeous scenery at The Ivy Place!
The Wedding Day
I don’t know if you’ve ever been to a Greek wedding, but I’ve been to my fair share and I knew that family was extremely important to Maria and Angelo and would play a huge part in their wedding story (I am Italian, after all, so I know about those huge families!) Fast forward to the wedding day. We started with getting ready at one of my favorite spots Uptown, and although the weather was looking like it would be a rainy day, we were extremely lucky to be able to take all portraits outside with none of that wet stuff! Beautiful greek music serenaded Maria as she dressed, and continued for the rest of the day.
As expected, the ceremony was gorgeous and full fo sweet glances and meaningful moments. We snuck a few minutes of time in a nearby park before heading in for an amazing reception with hours of dancing and merriment. If you ever want to see a REAL party, get yourself an invitation to your greek friend’s wedding and be prepared to dance until the wee hours of the morning!
