The very first thing I did with my new Lensbaby Edge 80 was…
Take it out on a speedboat?!?! Yep. I knew it might be challenging, being a manual focus lens and all, but I grow so much more when I challenge myself and so out onto Lake Murray I went!
What I learned:
1. Not easy to focus on a moving object while you yourself are also moving/bouncing.
2. It is FUN to attempt to follow a raft from side to side of a speedboat and predict the exact moment the riders will flip.
3. Being that it was the middle of the day, shooting at a pretty narrow aperture (I believe f/16) helps to diminish the “slice” effect of the Edge 80 by giving you a greater area of focus (which is nice for chasing a moving object–note to self).
4. I’m in love.
