As a wedding photographer, I always recommend choosing engagement session outfits that not only reflect your personality as a couple but, outfits that you feel the most confident in. To narrow down your outfit choices it is important to factor in the time of year and location that your engagement photos will take place. Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to capture engagement photos with the romantic holiday guiding your style for the day! Your photographer can also incorporate themes from the holiday into your engagement photos. I am sharing my favorite Valentine’s Day outfits to inspire your engagement session or romantic date look!
Cute & Casual
During your engagement session photos, you will most likely bring multiple outfits along. If you are exploring your local city, be sure to include a casual look that you are comfortable to walk in throughout the day. Keep things simple with your favorite jeans or neutral button-up shirt. Then add romantic accessories to elevate your style for the day. That way, your outfit will transition to the many unique spots available during your photo session while still remaining unique to you! How sweet was this heart wall as a backdrop? A blush kimono or cardigan along with statement pieces will add extra detail to your Valentine’s Day style. There are so many casual options to choose from so, staying minimal and allowing room for outfit changes will provide flexibility for your engagement session look.
Fun & Colorful
Have fun with your Valentine’s Day outfits! Adding unique pops of color such as classic red will add more dimension to your style for the day. Include colorful accessories such as a headband or crossbody bag. If you are not a fan of the classic red and pink colors, romantic pastel tones are still a great way to celebrate the holiday.
Boho Romantic
If you are planning a boho wedding, why not include the style in your engagement session? Flowy dresses and floral patterns along with natural hair and makeup will create this romantic look. This style easily transitions to Valentine’s day allowing plenty of room for personalization. Keep things neutral or wear a romantic color reflecting the holiday. The boho romantic look also is great if you are wearing one outfit for the full engagement session. The comfortable silhouettes can be dressed up or down throughout the day.
Monochromatic
For those that can’t get enough of the bright reds and pinks for Valentine’s day, make a statement with a monochromatic look! Wear your favorite Valentine’s day color head to toe. Coordinate with your partner to balance out your engagement outfits. If you or your partner prefers a more subtle look but is inspired by the monochromatic style, choose complementing colors to the bright tones. As another option, swap out your accessories for a different color while still keeping the majority of your outfit monochrome.
Classic Chic
Valentine’s day outfits do not have to include pink and red! Stay chic while still honoring the romantic holiday by focusing on the textures of your engagement session outfits. Pearl beading and silk fabrics are so beautiful for the holiday without requiring the traditional bright colors. Get creative with your Valentine’s day style with this alternative fashion approach!
