Newly engaged and thinking about an elopement? If you are considering this popular option but worry that it won’t be as romantic or exciting as a standard wedding, I’m here to ease your mind! I captured this fun and romantic elopement in Washington, DC filled with spring colors, laughter, dancing, and champagne. Intimate celebrations really are here to stay; I’m so excited to continue photographing even more.

Did you know, I travel outside of North Carolina for my wonderful clients? DC has officially become one of my favorite places for couples photography. Be sure to contact me to bring your dream wedding photography to life. I would love to hear your unique plan and story. Now, if you want to know what made this courthouse elopement so magical, keep reading!

Attire

This couple chose romantic and playful attire for their big day. The beautiful bride wore a champagne dress with ruffled layers and a chic updo. With statement pearl earrings, some nude heels, and an orange and yellow bouquet, her look was complete. The grounds surrounding the courthouse were thriving and this tree with purple blooms made the perfect photo backdrop.

For the groom’s look, he wore a light blue suit complete with elegant dress shoes. Of course, he even posed with the bouquet for an accessorized pop of color!

First Look

That’s right. You can still have a first look at your elopement. Pro wedding planning tip: You still need a small team for an intimate celebration. So, don’t skip the wedding planner! With items like the first look on your timeline for the day, you will want industry professionals to take care of the logistics. Look at the joy on this couple’s faces for this sweet moment!

Portraits

After the first look, it was time for portraits! We explored the outdoors surrounding the National Mall for these unforgettable photos. I adore how you can see this couple’s fun personality shining through. The couple later made it official on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, which was a first for me!

Celebration

Along with the excitement of couples photography, you need to celebrate! For their elopement, the newlyweds danced and popped a bottle of champagne to cheers. An elopement doesn’t have a rule book. Include or don’t include anything you want on your special day! So, who says you can’t have a cake cutting or first dance as newlyweds still?

This couple also happened to have a backyard celebration planned in their local state, South Carolina with friends and family for the future. Stay tuned for details about that day! Even if you are planning a future celebration, make your official day of getting married unforgettable. This plan was best for this couple to share this intimate day alone with another celebratory day to look forward to in the future.

Looking for even more intimate wedding or elopement inspiration? You’ll want to check out this modern elopement next at the Collector’s Room in North Carolina next!
