Destination
I get so excited when a couple expresses interest in having a “destination” engagement session. We are very lucky here in Charlotte to live so close to both the mountains and the ocean. Even luckier, if you ask me, to live so close to a national treasure of a city such as Charleston. I’m not biased at all, okay?
Rebekah and Holden
Rebekah, Holden and I first met when I shot her sister Katie’s Charlotte wedding a couple years ago. I remember taking a portrait of them then because they were so cute together! When Rebekah contacted me and told me they’re engaged and wanted me to shoot the wedding, I was beyond thrilled.
We waited until spring to schedule their engagement session. In talking to the couple, it was obvious that they wanted green, beautiful scenery. This of course, is hard to come by here in February. At first, we were going to visit the Highlands and go waterfall hunting. Then we all got caught Spring Fever and changed plans. Charleston it was!
Charleston
Of course, we had to visit the popular Rainbow Row and White Point Garden while in Charleston. It is ALWAYS the adorable alleys and hidden gems that steal my heart. It was prom season. So, to the always busy wedding season so the streets were full of beautiful people followed by us sweaty camera people 🙂
Holden and Rebekah did so well. It isn’t easy being on display in such a public place. You are trying to make it intimate but in reality, are being watched by onlookers. Once we escaped the city and ran off to Folly Beach, things got a lot more private and a LOT windier.
The driftwood and gorgeous palm trees made me squeal. Even though we were freezing from the nearly 30 mph wind gusts. But the sun was warm and we found a few spots that were sheltered and made the most of it. As we were leaving the beach and we thought we were done, the final photo was my favorite. It’s so funny how that happens more often than you’d think!
