During their vows, the officiant, Ben’s father, told the story of when Ben met Jordan. It was in high school and Jordan won a math award. Ben noticed that not only was she beautiful…but she was smart too. Everyone laughed with the couple, but the best part was these two are both extremely driven and intelligent individuals that have chosen to put being together above either of their own professional aspirations. Whether it was transferring universities across the country or moving back across the country for a residency, Ben and Jordan have done it together to support and love eachother when so many others would have chased their own dreams alone.
About their Old Edwards Inn Wedding:
Jordan and Ben went all-in for a crisp autumn wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains, incorporating hot cider, pumpkins, plaid, pinecones and a fireplace into their beautiful day. The groom first noticed his future bride when she received a math award in middle school, but it took a few more years for the couple to reunite. On New Year’s Eve morning, Ben hid an engagement ring for Jordan in her favorite crunchy cereal box.
The wedding day style and decor:
For the wedding, Jordan’s mom designed and sewed aisle bows, napkin holders made with burlap, ribbons and acorns, as well as the flower girl’s sweet fur-lined jacket. Other décor included bleached white pumpkins, a rustic wedding sign and pinecone topiaries, and the couple’s favors were personalized bookmarks and autumn-scented candles. Ben even wore a Black Watch tartan suit jacket, which blended well with the bridesmaids’ forest green gowns. “It all turned out even better than I could have expected,” Jordan says. “The weather cooperated, and the leaves on the trees had started changing just in time.”
Advice from the couple:
For couples planning their weddings, Jordan advises, “Be prepared to be flexible.” The power went out during their reception, but even with that little blip, everyone had a great time and created wonderful memories, she adds.
