Intimate weddings have gained more popularity this past year and I have to say, I am happy to see them stick around! There are so many ways to get creative with a smaller celebration without sacrificing the design elements of a traditional wedding. This bright and airy spring backyard wedding was truly a dream. Hannah and Avery’s wedding day featured refreshing pops of orange and peach tones, fresh greenery, and simplistic decor. The natural beauty of Charlotte, North Carolina was able to shine through in each photo. This unique venue featured a view of the water and lush trees that created multiple photography locations.  I can’t wait to share all of the details from this backyard wedding day!

The Ceremony

Hannah and Avery began their dream day with an intimate outdoor ceremony overlooking the water. The surrounding trees and geometric wedding arch beautifully framed the ceremony. Fresh florals decorated the natural wooden chairs for the guest seating. The bride and groom opted for a modern processional with a twist. After the sweet flower girl and ring bearer led the way, Hannah was escorted by both of her parents down the aisle. This was such a heartfelt moment to set the tone for the rest of the day. The couple chose to capture their first look following tradition during the ceremony. An advantage to hosting an intimate wedding means, there is more quality time with each guest. After the ceremony, the newlyweds captured photos with the entire group along with their family.

While their guests transitioned to the reception, Hannah and Avery captured photography throughout the venue. After posing under the wedding arch, we moved to the dock for a nature focused, romantic background. Hannah wore a flowy wedding dress with a low back and lace detail while Avery wore a muted navy tux paired with a bright bowtie. Their wedding day outfits blended effortlessly with the lush green scenery of the spring day. The wedding florals added extra dimension against the natural background. This couple had such a blast during their wedding photography that they even started dancing! Even with a backyard wedding, taking time for photography is an important aspect of the day and will create memories to cherish forever.

The Details

A backyard wedding provides endless options for creative details! As guests arrived, they could admire the beauty of the outdoor venue in the spring. Bright greenery surrounded the venue along with blooming flowers.  Hannah and Avery opted for simplistic and minimal details in order to allow the natural scenery to shine. Metallic gold lanterns, delicate vases, and assorted florals decorated the bar table. For the ceremony, the bride and groom continued to add fresh florals with the wooden arbor as the focal point. The ceremony chairs transitioned to the intimate reception with family-style seating. Burnt orange and pastel peach decorated each guest place setting along with a gold charger and personalized wooden place card. The tea lights and candles placed throughout the venue were so romantic as the sunset. To complete the wedding dinner, Hannah and Avery cut a simple two-tier wedding cake.
